About Me

Introduction

My name is Jimeng Shi, a Ph.D. student in computer science under the supervision of Prof. Giri Narasimhan from Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University. My research focus is to address various real-world problems by developing effective and efficient machine learning tools. I have finished a project - flood prediction and mitigation using AI models. Recently, I have started working on AI for climate and weather, especially under the extreme events. My work is being funded by NSF I-GUIDE.

• Graduate Research Assistant
• Working with Prof. Giri Narasimhan at FIU. My work is focusing on the development and application of Machine Learning algorithms. (2021 - Now)
• Worked with Dr. Liqun Yang at Computer Graphic & Vision Research Lab @FIU. My work was located on doing data augmentation of images to improve generalization ability of neural network model. (2020)
• Worked with Associate Prof. Cheng-Xian Lin at Sustainable Energy and Thermal Transport System Lab @FIU. I was responsible for numeric analysis and simulation about utilization of solar energy using Matlab and CFD. (2019)
• Machine Learning Engineer (Internship)
• Worked at Lid Vizion Company at Miami, Florida, USA. I was in charge of collecting and augmenting, annotating data and creating a Yolo-v4 model to detect some objects (paper or cardboard). The mAP = 98.45%. (2020)
